Hello, Readers!
Tis the season to be jolly—except it’s 2020. If you can’t do “jolly” right now, you are not alone. Most of us are just doing survival, and that’s okay.
I decked the halls before Thanksgiving even rolled around—but that’s not unusual for me. The tree is up, my place is positively festooned in lights (more so than usual even), and I’ve even done the majority of my holiday shopping (don’t hate me—it was retail therapy). But this year has been tough, and since I find the holidays particularly triggering, it’s going to be a bumpy ride to the new year.
You may have noticed that I have work I’m sharing on a new website. I’ve been publishing on News Break if you want to download the app to follow along. Writers who are interested in joining (yes, it pays) can apply here. I also have work circulating on other sites, but primarily, you’ll see work from me on Medium and News Break. You may have even noticed I’m selling some downloadable mental health tools on Mindstead. 2020 has been challenging for creatives, so diversifying keeps us all afloat.
In November, I was finally able to have two book signings in town. It was a masks-required event with plenty of hand sanitizer. It was nice to get out and meet readers again. All the links to my books can be found here. The contemporary romance series makes a great gift, and I’ll ship out signed copies (US only) for $50 for the first three books in the series. Remember that #ShopSmall also includes authors, artists, and other creatives.
In case you want to catch up on some reading this week, here are a few recent articles I wrote. Thank you for all of your support. I literally couldn’t do this without the support of my readers.
We have one month left of this year. One. I want to say something about making it count or reaching your goals for the year—but I can’t, in good conscience, do so. I’ll say this instead: please take good care of yourself this holiday season. I don’t just mean wearing masks and social distancing and sanitizing everything. I mean—take care of your heart. Say no to time with people who drain you. Say yes to what you want to do—even if that means laying around in your pajamas for a whole day getting absolutely nothing accomplished. Please take care of yourself.
It has been a truly challenging year. I’m so thankful you’re all still here with me, but let’s make it to the new year by taking good care of ourselves. With that said—
Happy Holidays and Happy Reading!
