Can loving people the same way (whether it’s the same person over time or different people) be a form of insanity?

It’s said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result. To be fair, this definition of insanity isn’t a legal one, and it sure as hell isn’t a psychological one. But it does clearly illustrate maladaptive behavior.
