The term “soul mate” means more, I think, about growth than chance.
It’s about the maturity of individuals and how they interact as a couple. And it has a different meaning depending on your age, life situation and health.
Falling in love is much easier than making it work. After all, a lot of us are on our second or third (or greater) life partner.
I agree with you - take care of yourself and be happy with yourself.
A million years ago, the reverend that was about to minister over my wedding vows advised/required us to read “The Secret of Staying in Love.” I didn’t but should have. It made all the sense in the world when I did read it decades later.
And it also seems to be true that when you’re not looking, stuff just happens.
